| This is BEAR (his name will probably change soon when he gets adopted) and he is one of my most current foster puppies! I foster for Peak Lab Rescue and work with a lot of their rescues on behavior modification to make them more adoptable. I'm especially lucky that the staff of Peak Lab trusts me with pregnant mommies and to whelp them. This is probably one of my most favorite things in the world. To help bring life into the world and then watch them grow and change so much. Everyone asks how I give them up, but I know they're going to a family where they will mutually make each other's life companions. BEAR's mom, AUBURN, is a lab mix, and daddy is anyone's guess! |

Hipster BEAR
I'm sitting at the Atlanta airport during a (7 hour) layover on my way home from Spain, so let me see what pictures I can post up today while I'm waiting. I know I've already moved a lot of my recent favorites over to my external hard drive but there should still be plenty to chose from!
I love his "cool pose" with these sunglasses. I need to work on better backgrounds and staging for posed pictures, because clearly draping a sheet over the couch doesn't work all that well. I'm really excited about watching the progress of my photography skills improve as this blog goes on and I receive (constructive) criticism, and get others' opinions on my photos!

Why this blog? Why not?
Hi! I'm Sarah and I'm addicted to dogs. No, but really. I've had many fortunate opportunities to work with a variety of dogs, puppies in particular, and been blessed that I have really cute subjects to satisfy my photography hobby. I will introduce a little more about how I get access to these wonderful little creatures in a later post.
I've recently been moving a lot of pictures over from my computer to an external hard drive - imagine that; my computer almost crashed because there were too many pictures. I was looking through some that I needed to send to somebody and quite possibly maybe selected more than "a few" that were my favorites.
Currently, I tend to only shoot in natural light since I never actually learned how to use my fancy pants Canon EOS DSLR camera. (That's on the list!) Well, sometimes the dogs are really cute inside and my iPhone, albeit good quality, just doesn't capture the imagine as I'd like it. SO, back to "why" I'm starting this blog. 1) to share "a few" of my favorite pictures that I have already taken and 2) to be able to follow along as I learn how to use my camera more efficiently. Oh, and I also have Photoshop and no idea how to use it. So, add that to the list, too.
My favorite shots tend to be candid and really capture their personalities. But, I won't lie, I have quite the collection of doggy holiday (yep, all of 'em) apparel and decorations that I like to get creative with. That second part is alway a learning curve for both the dog or puppy and myself since they typically have other ideas than what's pictured in my head! I'm pretty excited to be able to share a few years worth of pictures (yikes, I don't think they improved over time) and my love for animals and making memories.
PS occasionally there may be a cat, horse, squirrel, butterfly, etc. butttt most likely will be about 99% canine photos.
Naturally, I would think that I'm not allowed to make a photography post and not post a picture; so let me find ONE.

| This picture is of RASCAL, one of our rescued dogs who is a retriever/chow mix. It was taken quite a few years ago in 2010 right after I got my camera. A month from yesterday he will be 13 years old! |
